Best new dance song of the year!

This song makes me dance no matter where I am!

Summer is near and nothing reminds me more of its approach than this upbeat song! French electronic music duo Daft Punk have returned to the charts, bringing musical caramel dip, Pharrell Williams, along for the ride. Get Lucky, features Williams' signature smooth vocals over an updated disco-tech-like beat.  I can just imagine young John Travolta sashaying across Studio 54 to this tune. The song itself is a party:

This track is just in time for the summer; a must for any upcoming backyard BBQs. This is definitely a song to add to that work out playlist. Don't take my word for it, listen to Daft Punk's Get Lucky below!

King B like you've never heard her before!

Y'all have pushed Beyonce' to the edge and she is no longer playing nice!

 This track is directed to her haters and she is serious:

 I would love to know who inspired this particular track but we both know that slither of info will never surface.

Sucks.

Anywho, Bow Down is an ode to Houston's popular chopped and screwed sound and Mrs. Carter lays down a flow in a screwed voice, reminiscing about her good ol days in H-Town. It's a nice refreshing sound from Beyonce and there is a distinct growth to her artistry. She has clearly come into her own and her confidence is through the roof. Momma is cussing and all!

Singer Reveals New Modeling Campaign 

Busy week for Mrs. Carter!

After releasing a new quasi controversial song, the singer's anticipated modeling campaign with fashion giant, H&M. According to Donald Schneider, creative director of H&M:

'H&M’s summer campaign starring Beyonce is an epic fantasy, with glamour, drama and also a sense of paradise. It was amazing to watch her on the shoot make it all look effortless – a quality that makes her such an icon for women around the world. The campaign is the essence of Beyonce', and also the essence of H&M this summer.'

Not only was the new mom able to give input to the line, but she will appear in a new TV commercial featuring a new song. (What's going on with Dereon, again?)

Oh boy, I'm feeling a Beyonce' overload coming on again.  

Regardless, Beyonce' is continuing to push the envelope and I have nothing but respect for her work ethic.

This song is effing awesome!

As a die hard thrifter for most of my life, I can unequivocally appreciate the subject of this track. If you seriously don't already know, thrift Stores are the best!

Now, as far as this song goes, the beat is awesome and Macklemore's flow is solid. 

Alls I can say is listen and judge for yourself!

"Party Anthem" is a mellow head rocker that boasts a memorable feature from the dearly missed, Missy Elliot!! [She says she'll rap even in dentures. HA!]

T-Pain returns and holds down the hook (no surprise there) while Lil Wayne.....does what he does. Nooot sure exactly where the "anthem" portion of this track lies, but this song is alright with me.

#TheQuench | New Music: Gilles - "Commencement"

Pronounced Jeelz.

Yep, I did that.

Nothing like some good ole originality to kick off the day. 

And lawyer turned rapper, Gilles, is all of that and then some. After graduating from the esteemed Emory University, (my alma mater) he was unsure exactly how to break in the rap game, so he did the most obvious choice: Law school! 

Indeed, all of that education has done him some good. His voice resonates with the young, educated and working class. This music is smart and infused with a perspective that's predominately missing from hip hop. Imagine listening to a rap song that isn't dumbed down and yet, remains catchy AND memorable. Kind of mind blowing isn't it?

Pretty refreshing.

Soooo, with great pleasure, I present to you, "Commencement," the first single from the upcoming EP, "Successfully Lost."

New Music: T.I. ft Andre 3000 - "Sorry"

Strike a match. He's back.

Thank you, T.I. for bringing Andre 3000 up for air! 

 I really enjoy when an artist clearly declares their personal thoughts and experiences and I must say these two have certainly laid out their grievances and then some. 

"Sorry" sounds like an open letter describing the unexpected reality of having to leave some behind in the balance while obtaining personal success. Basically, another message to his haters.

Shock Alert: 3 Stacks sort of apologizes to Big Boi, revealing his discomfort with touring and the pressures that came along with being OutKast. Talk about insight.

Overall, I'm digging it!

It's Fifty!

Curtis Jackson has returned and this time he brought some buddies along! 

"My Life" is a mid term, contemplative track in which the successful entrepreneur offers insight into his journey in life thus far. The chorus boasts Maroon 5 crooner, Adam Levine, who is singing his heart out  about the trial and tribulations of his life. Eminem lends support with an equally emo(tional) verse. Put all these elements together and it sounds like one big whine fest if you ask me.

Methinks, die-hard 50 fans will 'get it', and probably love it. In that case, this is for you!

The former Destiny Child's member has teamed back up with local weirdo, Lil Wayne, for another sexy song. This time, she's crooning about ice and all the excitement that comes from using it in creative ways. It's not "Motivation," but the song is solid and the visuals are stunning! Kelly looks amazing and holds her own despite Wayne's absence from the video.

The second single from the smokin' Bajan beauty has been released for our listening pleasure! First impression: There's this really heavy emo feel to it, but I will say, Rih has most certainly stepped up her game in the vocal department. Yea, I said it.  Props to her.

SIDEBAR: I've noticed that many artists have come to their senses about using pre-recorded tracks during live performances and its pretty darn refreshing! Ms. Fenty performed "Stay," an additional song from her upcoming album, "Unapologetic,"on SNL last week. Watch below the 'Lost In Paradise' track.

Watch: The Roots, Cristina Aguilera, & Jimmy Fallon Perform 'My Body' Using Office Supplies

This is classic creativity and soooooo up my alley!

Using nothing but office supplies as instruments, The Roots accompany Xtina in an acoustic version of her song 'My Body.' She sounds great, the band sounds sick, (in a good way, duh) considering they're tearing sheets of paper and clicking away at staplers to keep a beat. And LOL @ Jimmy Fallon with the cell phone dial up melody.

Reminds me of a magnificent Wood Block solo I had (and dominated) at States while in High School orchestra. Ha!

SHOWTIME!!

Swizz Beats is back and clearly Ms. Keys has her hubby happier than ever! This new track will refill that need to drop down and get your eagle on girl. Or maybe its just me?

Anyway, being a Miami girl, booty shaking music beats in my heart. And though its doesn't hold a candle to Uncle Luke's original birthday song. It'll do. It'll do.

Chris Brown and Ludacris mesh well with the track and overall, my ears are pleased.
