#LOL: Franciscan Friars Say Text Us Your Prayers

WTH?

(L-R) Brother Richard McFeely, OFM and Brother Bob Frazzetta, OFM. (PRNewsFoto/Holy Name Province)

Not sure how I feel about this... On one hand, there should be nothing wrong with updating the church and utilizing technology to reach more hearts. On the other, the picture above just seems a wee bit weird!

Right?

So basically, those in need of a prayer can text their request to 306-44. Respond to the welcome message with your prayer and you'll receive a confirmation stating that your prayer has been received and will be prayed for.

Now that I really think about it, this is a fantastic way for those disenfranchised by church to still reach out and have an anointed one send prayers up. Of course, you can pray on your own.

But really?

You're going to turn down the professional?

That's cute.

The service is free and the Franciscan Friars released the following statement:
"We are very pleased to ring in 2013 with our new Text a Prayer Intention to a Franciscan Friar program," said Father David Convertino , Executive Director of Development for the Franciscan Friars of Holy Name Province. "With technology changing the way we communicate, we needed to offer people an updated way to ask for prayers for special intentions and needs either for themselves or others. We have been working on this for some time and it's a great way to bring in the New Year.  If the pope can tweet, friars can text!
Damn, the pope is tweeting? It's new day.

What do you think about the Text a Prayer Intention to a Franciscan Friar program? Will you use it?

#Huh: Kanye Wants Stereo System in Baby Stroller

Lol.

Talk about doing the most!

It's no surprise that Kanye West  would have outlandish ideas ready for his upcoming baby with pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian. An apparent insider spilled to Italian weekly magazine, Grazia, that the Louis Vuitton Don really wants his child to give Blue Ivy a run for her baby money:

Kanye wants it to be really cool, with 3D mirages on the walls and a lunar star show on the ceiling.”
The source also claims that Kimye want to rival Beyonce and Jay-Z’s one-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who was given a diamond-encrusted pacifier.
“He’s also got his eye on a pram with an inbuilt sound system and the 14-carat white gold diamond-encrusted pacifier that Jay-Z and Beyonce’s daughter has,” the source added.

Mmm. Rich people problems.

#TechJuice: HzO Makes Your Smartphone Waterproof... on the Inside

Hellz Yea Becky!

Finally! Useful technology.

Smartphone protection without the bulk:
The company says its WaterBlock technology defends against moisture at the molecular level, attaching to the circuits in device to repel any liquids. It doesn't add any weight and it doesn't affect performance, HzO claims.
Hot damn! I'm down.

New Music: Timbaland ft. Lil Wayne, Missy Elliot & T-Pain

Nunu from Timbo!

"Party Anthem" is a mellow head rocker that boasts a memorable feature from the dearly missed, Missy Elliot!! [She says she'll rap even in dentures. HA!]

T-Pain returns and holds down the hook (no surprise there) while Lil Wayne.....does what he does. Nooot sure exactly where the "anthem" portion of this track lies, but this song is alright with me.

What do you think about the song?

#InCaseYouWereWondering: Snooki to Launch New Line of Audio Tech Gear

Rhinestone, animal prints, fur - OH MY!

Oh, you heard right!

The break-out star of MTV's reality show gold, Jersey Shore, has recently expanded her business empire and jumped on the headphone bandwagon! Thanks to tech company iHip, "Snookie Couture by Nicole Polizzi" is set to release this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Think shiny, furry, animal kingdom-ish designs....

I don't know about the actual products, but this girl is an awesome business woman. Keep in mind, last year, Dr. Dre topped Forbes Highest Paid Musician's list thanks to his "Beats by Dre" headphone empire....so I'm not mad it!!

What do you think about Snooki's new endeavor?

Do you plan on purchasing a pair of her headphones?

#WhackCentral: Facebook Will Charge $1 To Send Message Your Inbox

"Money Trees is perfect place for shade and that's just how I feel..."

-Kendrick Lamar

And it begins...

So Facebook is "testing" an option that charges $1 to message other users who aren't friends on the network.

Why?

The fee will supposedly deter spammers from ...well..spamming:
Facebook is billing the change as an attempt to crack down on spam by seeing if "imposing a financial cost on the sender" serves as a deterrent to sending unwanted messages. Yet, it seems just as likely that it could lead to an increase spam, as anyone from a marketer to your ex-girlfriend could potentially use the option to flood your inbox with unwanted messages.
Something in my inner being is telling me this is just the tip of an iceberg ready to be smashed by the SS Facebook Money Machine.

If users fall for this, we'll be saying, "Remember the days when Facebook was free?"

::shudders at the thought:::

What do you think? Do you think Facebook will begin charging for normal service?

How do you feel about the $1 charge? Leave your comment below.
